PM's Wife Hosts Forum For Spouses Of ASEAN Heads

KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Najib Razak's wife Rosmah Mansor hosted a special forum for spouses of ASEAN heads of state today in conjunction with the 26th ASEAN Summit. The forum aimed to increase awareness and stimulate interest among the spouses of ASEAN Heads of State on the strategic value of social business in alleviating poverty, hunger and access to basic needs. The forum was divided into two panel sessions to discuss on Empowerment through Social Business as well as sharing experiences and good practices with industry experts. Nearly 500 participants from non-governmental organisations, social entrepreneurs and foreign embassies attended the forum. Among the speakers were Treasury Secretary-General Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rohani Abdul Karim as well as Managing Director of Grameen Shikka and Grameen Shakti Bangladesh, Nurjahan Begum. An outcome statement would be issued at the end of the forum to further enhance the community. -- BERNAMA
