PM:Situation in Thai Far South is improving

BANGKOK, January 21 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha says that the situation in the violence-plagued Thai Far South is improving although the government has not yet secured cooperation from all people there. The prime minister, who is also Chief of the army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), told journalists on Thursday that there are now signs of the improving situation in the troubled southern Thai border region, namely more cooperation between local people and the government. The prime minister called for all parties in the Thai Deep South to render cooperation to the government, opining that a small group of opponents should not disturb peace of the majority of local people. According to the Thai leader, his government and security units take care of domestic peace and order based on international norms, covering personnel policy, law enforcement, utilization of technologies and tools and cooperation with the international community.
