PM:Thailand is India's constructive partnership

NEW DELHI, January 25 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocean says that, like other member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Thailand is pleased to become constructive partnership with India and to support New Delhi's Indo-Pacific agenda on concrete regional connectivity with the participation of all parties, as well as on regional maritime security enhancement. The Thai premier stressed on the stance while holding bilateral talks with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi, prior to the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit 2018, which also marks the 25th anniversary of the ASEAN-India relations as dialogue partners and the 69th anniversary of India's Republic Day. Acknowledging Thailand's rotating role as the regional coordinator for the ASEAN-India relations as of August 2018, Prime Minister Prayut affirmed Bangkok's position on supporting India's Indo-Pacific agenda and the planned establishment of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, comprising of 10 ASEAN member countries and the 10-member bloc's six dialogue partners, namely China, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia and New Zealand, with balanced benefits to all participating economies. Besides, the Indian and the Thai leaders agreed on the full enhancement of bilateral and regional cooperation in various issues in all dimensions, including regional maritime security, marine resources conservation and anti-transnational terrorism, as well as trade, investment, covering digital, smart cities and special economic zones projects, and tourism expansion between the two allied countries. The Thai prime minister pointed out that New Delhi's Smart Cities and Digital India Projects are similar to his government's Thailand 4.0, New S-Curve Industry and Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) initiatives.
