PM:Thailand prepares for AEC

BANGKOK, December 29 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra says that the Thai government is prepared to further develop public utilities, amend trade laws and, most importantly, human resources and general public enthusiasm in the lead-up to the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), scheduled by 2015. Yingluck suggested during her weekly TV and radio programme on Saturday that all sectors in Thailand be improved before the formation of the AEC, and that, if necessary things were urgently tackled, Thailand would be ready for the AEC and could act as a centre for the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) by then. In 2013, Yingluck acknowledged, her government will keep supporting the Thai private sector through boosting confidence among business operators in parallel with further driving ahead national development. According to the prime minister, her government also plans to implement several new projects and to improve people’s quality of life in 2013, together with promoting equality among population, greater women roles in the society and better nourishment among children. The premier proclaimed 2013 the year for Thailand's sustainable development through creating new opportunities, extending her thanks to the public as well in helping her administration running the country smoothly more than a year in the past. The prime minister expressed her confidence that love and unity could be seen in Thailand, while urging people to help each other and to listen to others’ opinions in a constructive way so that the Kingdom could further progress.
