PM:Thailand's new election will be held in 2016

BANGKOK, February 9 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha, who is in Japan for a three-day official visit, from February 8-10, has confirmed with Japanese authorities that Thailand will have the new general election in 2016. On the second day of his ongoing trip to Japan at the invitation of his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe, the Thai prime minister made the confirmation during his meeting with Yasuhisa Shiozaki, Japanese Health and Labor Minister and Chair of the Thailand-Japan Parliamentary Friendship League at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo on Monday morning (local time). Prime Minister General Prayut assured that Thailand's new general election would happen within one year from now on. According to the Thai premier, his administration will do everything, based on its mandate, to organize the new general election that is internationally recognized, as Thailand is developing strong democracy to make the general election happen within one year, as the second phase of the national reform roadmap is on its way, though taking some times. The Thai prime minister also insisted that laws have been enforced fairly, his interim government has not abused power and human rights have not been violated, but his government needs to exercise control actions in some cases to ensure national progress. The visiting Thai leader asked the Thailand-Japan Parliamentary Friendship League to help communicate what his government has been doing with the international community. The Thai leader stressed that his government will do the best to develop bilateral between Bangkok and Tokyo and regional relations. Thai Thai leader also promised to take good care of Japanese tourists and business operators in Thailand. (TNA)
