Poet’s nephew to make Sohrab Sepehri biopic

TEHRAN,Oct.5(MNA) -- Sohrab Sepehri’s nephew Jalal Fatemi planned to make a biopic of the Persian poet and painter. He is currently preparing the usual preliminaries for the project entitled “The Bird”, producer Saeid Sharafikia said in a press release Wednesday. “Since Jalal is Sohrab’s nephew, he has a comprehensive data about the personal life of the poet,” he added. The name of the film refers to Sohrab’s love of flying, Fatemi told the Persian service of MNA. He has also spent five years researching to write the screenplay for project. “‘The Bird’ is a special film for a special person,” Fatemi stated. Sepehri (1928-1980) is considered as one of top five Iranian poets in blank verse. The others were Nima Youshij, Ahmad Shamlu, Mehdi Akhavan-Salis and Forugh Farrokhzad. His poems have been translated into French, English, Spanish, Italian, Swedish and Russian. Sepehri died of leukemia in Tehran in 1980. He was buried according to his will and testament in the village of Mashhad-e Ardahal near the city of Kashan in Isfahan Province.
