Police know identities of gunmen in Laksi clash

BANGKOK, February 9 (TNA) - Police are now able to identify several gunmen who were involved in clashes between two rival groups which took place in Bangkok on the eve of Thailand’s general election on February 1, police said. Police said on Sunday they are gathering for more evidence before requesting the Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants for the gunmen who were involved in the clash between anti-government demonstrators of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee and pro-government group of the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship. The clash took place near a shopping mall at Lak Si intersection. At least, eight people were wounded in the clash. Police said one of the suspects -- a masked gunman with a rifle concealed in a popcorn bag – is used to mingle with anti-government protesters at Bangkok’s Urupong intersection earlier. The suspect has many friends who were vocational students and is an expert in using firearms, police added. (TNA)
