Police Ready To Provide Security For Obama's Visit

JOHOR BAHARU (Johor, Malaysia), April 24 (Bernama) -- The police are fully prepared to provide security for United States President Barack Obama's three-day official visit to Malaysia from Saturday. Bukit Aman Logistics Department director Zulkifli Abdullah said the police had taken into account various matters and the presence of a person with a very high position would surely be a concern of the authorities. "I am confident the police leadership and all government agencies involved have made full preparations. Our attention is not only on the president of the United States but on any world leaders visiting this country," he told reporters after visiting the Larkin Police Station here, Thursday. Also present was Johor police chief Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff. Obama's visit to Malaysia will be a second by a president of the United States after President Lyndon B Johnson in 1966. Obama will also be visiting Tokyo, Japan and Seoul, South Korea, before ending his working visit to Asia, in the Philippines. The visit was part of the commitment to boost United States diplomatic, economic and security ties with countries in the Asia Pacific region. -- BERNAMA
