Police Secure Demonstration At Myanmar's Embassy

Jakarta, May 3 (Antara) - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Command sent 1,654 personnel to secure demonstration at the Myanmarese embassy here on Friday. "The number of the demonstrators is between 750 to 1,000," the command spokesman, Senior Commissioner Rikwanto, said. He said the demonstrators gathered at the Hotel Indonesia roundabout before marching to the embassy. They came from the Forum of Muslim organizations such as the Islam Defenders` Front (FPI), the JAT, Garis, KISDI, DDII, GPMI and Taruna Muslim. The demonstrators protested the Myanmarese government over violence on Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. To prevent any eventuality the police set up barriers and prepared an armored vehicle.
