Police Shoot Dead Two Suspects Robbing House

Jakarta, Oct 3 (Antara) - Jakarta police shot dead two suspects in the robbery last month of the house of a relative of First Lady Ani Yudhoyono. Alfian and Chandra alias Ican were shot as they resisted when the officers brought them to a location in the process of investigations on Thursday night, a police spokesman said . "The officers had to take a firm action as they resisted," Adj. Sr. Comr.Herry Heryawan from the Jakarta police detective directorate said here on Friday. Herry said the two suspects were known as specialists in robbery with victims luxurious houses in Jakarta. He said Alfian tried to escape when he was brought by police to Pondok Indah in South Jakarta on Thursday night for criminal investigations. Alfian was brought to the luxurious residential district to show the target of his robbery among the houses in that area . Chandra was also shot as he also tried to escape at Jalan Tentara Pelajar in Kebayoran Lama , South Jakarta, Herry said. He said police had arrested four of seven members of alleged syndicate of robbers involved in a series of the robbery in the city. He said Alfian was a recidivist involved in a series of robberies in Jakarta since the 1990s. One of the targets of the syndicate was the house of a relative of Mrs Ani Yudhoyono, wife of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in the Kelapa Gading housing complex in North Jakarta in September 2014.
