President aide proposes association covering Iran Plateau

Tehran, March 8, IRNA – President’s Special Assistant for Ethnic Groups and Religious Minorities Ali Yunesi proposed formation of an association which would cover all countries situated on the Iran Plateau. He made the remarks here Sunday while addressing a gathering on “Iran: The name, the nation and the land”. He said such an association will bring together all these countries given the many common interests they share. The official added that it should cover areas beginning from the Chinese border to the Persian Gulf, including the Indian Peninsula and Caucasia. The Islamic World and the regional countries in particular are presently in dire need of having access to the Islamic civilization and the Iranian culture based on the teachings of Islam, so that the flag of Islamic-Iranian peace and friendship is hoisted once again, he added. Though the country at the present time covers a number of countries, Yunesi said, the fact remains that its civilization and culture continue to influence all of them.
