President Aliyev: Main causes of world crisis – violation of stability, some countries’ political interests

Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 8 Trend: A deep economic and financial crisis continues in the world, and this crisis has become more serious especially on the Eurasian landscape, said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev Sept. 8. The president was addressing a meeting dedicated to the economic issues and the works on preparing the 2016 state budget in the country. “An economic decline is being observed both in Europe and in Asia,” he said, adding that there are various objective and subjective reasons for it. “Those reasons are of course being examined and will be examined by analysts,” said President Aliyev. “That’s not our job to do. Our job is to protect our country and its economy from negative processes going on in the world to the maximum extent possible.” “We are able to do this, we do it successfully, we protect our country, and we ensure our country’s security, stability and economic development,” said President Aliyev. The president noted that the causes of the political, military and economic crisis on the Eurasian landscape will be, of course, investigated. “But now there is enough information to do an analysis, and we see that the main causes of this crisis are the violation of stability and the political interests of some countries,” Azerbaijani president said. Ilham Aliyev underscored that hundreds of thousands of people have been killed in the Middle East in the recent years. “They have been killed in foreign interventions, bloody clashes, and there seems to be no end to this war, to these clashes,” said the president. “On the contrary, new hotbeds of war emerge and innocent people suffer.” He also said the situation in the post-Soviet area is becoming increasingly tense, both bloody clashes, and political and economic crises prevail there. The president said that the confrontation tendencies intensify, and, of course, the post-Soviet area is in neighbourhood. “Here we all see it well, and the public too knows this. Foreign intervention plays its role, and again innocent people suffer from it,” said the Azerbaijani president. “For the first time after the World War II, the European landscape, or to be more exact, the European Union, is facing a major humanitarian catastrophe,” he said. “Hundreds of thousands of refugees, people who became refugees, again, as a result of foreign intervention, have headed to Europe, and today there is a large relocation to find shelter, to escape.” “I’d like to once again say that after the World War II, we for the first time are facing this, and, of course, this is a great humanitarian disaster,” said President Aliyev. “First of all, this is a humanitarian disaster for the people, who found themselves in this difficult situation. They have been for several years facing this humanitarian catastrophe.” Azerbaijani president also noted with regret that the western media treat this with an absolute indifference and neglect. “But today, when part of those people have headed to the European continent, all the western media are day and night spreading the footages of that, as if accusing the people in this situation,” said the president. “It is not these people's fault. They are the victims of a purposeful policy, they are the victims of foreign intervention. They have no other way. They have to protect themselves, their families. Therefore today, this humanitarian catastrophe is, first of all, their humanitarian catastrophe,” he added. As for the EU policy, said the president, life will show the degree of the EU’s loyalty to the values claimed by it. “Right now everything is clear. And we are seeing that those poor people are subjected to torture, their dignity is degraded, as if a wide campaign is being carried out against them,” he said. “We won’t be able to put up with this. We always express our stance on any issue. Azerbaijan is one of those countries that have own stance on all international issues, and we express our stance not shunning anyone. That is why we have gained great authority and respect in the world,” he said. The president further said that Azerbaijan’s stance is fair in all matters, and defending the fair stance, Azerbaijan can’t put up with this policy and these processes. “In short, changes are taking place today on the world map, and it isn’t ruled out that they will continue in the future,” said President Aliyev. “As for Azerbaijan, against the backdrop of this entire negativity, the country’s economy is developing, the country’s stability is enhancing, our international positions are increasingly strengthening, and the number of those cooperating with us is increasing day by day,” he added. “Azerbaijan is one of the valuable, much respected members of international community, the processes in the country are going in a positive direction, the people support our policy, and even in the years of crisis our economy develops successfully,” said President Ilham Aliyev.
