President To Attend National Children's Day Commemoration

Jakarta, Aug 1 (Antara) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has confirmed to attend the 2014 National Children`s Day commemoration event in the Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature Park, Jakarta, on August 6, stated Minister of Women and Child Protection Linda Gumelar. "Actually, the commemoration of the National Children`s Day should have been held on July 23, but after taking into consideration of certain aspects, we have postponed it to August 6," Linda remarked here on Friday. Linda emphasized that National Children`s Day was a reminder of the strong commitment to enforce children`s rights, including the right to live, grow and develop, participate, and receive protection. Linda stressed that the government, private sector, and civil society should work in tandem in order to protect and uphold the children`s rights. "The government cannot work alone, and it needs commitment from all sides," she pointed out. Linda also highlighted the significant role played by the media in publishing the positive aspects of the work being carried out in the field of child development, one of them being the national or international achievements made by Indonesian children. "The publication will have a positive effect and motivate other children to excel further," she added. By publishing positive news related to children`s development, Linda stated that Indonesian children will develop character and nationalism. "Also, love peace and stay away from violence," Linda noted.
