President: Gotvand Dam Construction Shows Iran Expertsˈ High Capabilities

Tehran, April 23, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday that construction of Gotvand dam and commissioning its power plant indicate Iranian expertsˈ high capabilities in undertaking big projects. Talking to reporters during the inauguration ceremony of the dam and first phase of its power plant, he added that such domestic capabilities signifies the Iranian nationˈs bright future and glory. Gotvand dam is the biggest embankment dam in the country which has special sophistication. The experts managed to implement such a big project, he said. Some 4.5m liters of water will be added to the countryˈs water reservoirs once the dam becomes operational, the president said. Iran is a country moving on the path to progress and it always needs electricity, Ahmadinejad said, noting that the turbines needed by the hydraulic power plants were previously imported from foreign countries but now they are completely produced in Iran./end
