President Masum Meets With Turkish Ambassador in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / NINA / The President of the Republic of Iraq, Fuad Masum, discussed with the Turkish ambassador in Iraq, Farouk Qimagj, ways to expand the horizons of joint cooperation between the two countries. A statement from the presidency cited that "the president received, at his office in Baghdad, the Turkish ambassador, who congratulated Masum on behalf of President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his own name, on the occasion of electing him as president of the republic of Iraq." The statement added: "The two sides discussed, during the meeting, bilateral relations between Turkey and Iraq and ways to expand the horizons of joint cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples." The President emphasized "the depth of the strategic relations between Turkey and Iraq and the possibility of developing them economically and culturally for the benefit of the two countries." For his part, the Turkish Ambassador expressed the desire of President Gul, to invite President Masum to visit Turkey. / End
