President Meets British Foreign Minister

BAGHDAD / NINA / President Fuad Masum stressed the need for the development of Iraqi-British relations and strengthened them to include political, economic and cultural fields to serve the aspirations of the two friendly peoples in progress and well-being." President Masum, during a meeting with British Foreign Minister, Philip Hammond, according to a presidential statement, praised the UK's role in supporting Iraq in the humanitarian field and support the Iraqi security forces in the fight against terrorism through its participation in the international coalition. Masum shed the light during the meeting to the current efforts by the three authorities to complete the realistic and comprehensive national reconciliation based on the principles of the Constitution, the rights and law that take into consideration starting from the reality of the provinces and their components. He also stressed "deepen understanding between the KRG and the federal government to make every effort to agree on ways to resolve the previous points of disagreement." For his part, the British Foreign Secretary, praised the role played by Masum for the convergence of views between the political parties, and urging them to unite their positions to overcome the difficulties facing Iraq, particularly the risk of Daash, reiterated his country's commitment to helping Iraq in the war against terrorism. The British Foreign Minister arrived in Baghdad today and also met House Speaker Salim al-Jubouri. / End
