President receives sample of “Encyclopedia for Children and Youths”

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A sample of a three-tome encyclopedia for children and youths was granted the President Ts.Elbegdorj on Wednesday. It was presented by a director-general of “Selengepress” publishing house M.Bold, chair and initiator of the project on the encyclopedia; People’s Teacher-titled Dr Ch.Avdai, general-editor of the encyclopedia; and members of the editing group. The encyclopedia consists of three tomes themed “Mongolia”, “Mongolian historical tradition, culture and science” and “World countries and people”. The first tome chronologically features Mongol Empires Hun, Xiongnu, Xianbei and Turkic Khaganate, the Mongol Great Empire, Mongolian kings, the history of Mongolia before and after the 1921 revolution, Mongolian nature, geography, climate, education and culture. The second one tells about the lifestyle of the Mongolians such as shelters, clothing, family, ethnography, religion, cuisine, animal husbandry, land farming as well as modern sciences. The third tome has information about famous people of the world, from ancient to modern times; characteristics of earth, oceans, movement; the history of humankind, migration; international organizations, famous cities, universities, libraries, theatres, museums, buildings and the seven wonders of the world, said Dr Avdai. Members of the editing group said the very first version of the 3-tome encyclopedia for children and youths was published some 30 years ago in the former Soviet Union themed “My homeland-Mongolia”, “Great Friendship” and “World humankind”. The President congratulated the people on their creation and said it should be delivered to libraries of all levels schools.
