President Yudhoyono Attends Asean+3 Summit In Brunei

Bandar Seri Begawan, Oct 10 (Antara) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono attended ASEAN+3 Summit in the capital of Brunei Darussalam, Thursday. Brunei`s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in his capacity as the ASEAN Chair 2013, in his opening remarks said the summit was expected to strengthen the cooperation including in food security between ASEAN and its three partner nations. He said various cooperation within ASEAN+3 has made a lot of progresses. In food security cooperation, ASEAN+3 emergency rice reserve is expected to be intensified. ASEAN+3 groups 10 ASEAN member countries - Brunei Darrussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar - plus China, Japan and South Korea. The ASEAN+3 Summit is being organized coinciding with the 23rd ASEAN Summit in Brunei Darussalam. The 23rd ASEAN Summit has been held since Wednesday under a theme of "Our People, Our Future Together." On the sidelines of the two summits, East Asian Summit is also scheduled to be organized on Thursday and participated in by leaders for the ASEAN member nations, China, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Russia. ASEAN Bilateral Summits with India and the United Nations are also held on Thursday separately.
