Prime Minister Attends Annual Celebration of Scientific Excellence of People with Disabilities

Doha, May 28 (QNA) -HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani attended today the sixth edition of the annual celebration of Scientific excellence of people with disabilities, and their families. The ceremony was attended by HE Minister of Economy and Trade Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, and Board Chairman of the Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of People with Special Needs HE Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani. Addressing the ceremony, the Deputy Chairman of the Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of People with Special Needs Rabia bin Mohammed Al Kaabi, said : "We celebrate today to honor the our outstanding children with disabilities at various different stages of education and even at the university level." He added that interest in the educational process for people with disabilities and care for them is considered an important requirement as stipulated in international and local conventions in order to achieve the greatest possible investment of their cognitive, social, emotional and professional potential throughout their lives. He stressed the Society's keenness on cooperation with relevant civil society institutions in the field of disability to take advantage of modern technology by using the smart and sophisticated communication means in order to improve the system of learning environment for our children with disabilities and to overcome the problems of education with that category by providing more effective and efficient education. Speaking on behalf of the parents, Mona Arhama Al Kuwari extended thanks and appreciation to HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for HH unprecedented interest and care as well as the interest of the state is in the field of education and rehabilitation of people with disabilities by providing all educational , recreational aspects and the focus on the law No. (2 ) of 2004 for persons with disabilities in order to encourage them to participate effectively both internally and externally and providing health care for them. Addressing the ceremony also, the student Sheikha Ahmed Al Kuwari said : "We reap today the fruits of excellence , where we prove to everyone that disability does not limit the giving , but it was a way that we find ourselves a place at the school from kindergarten to the university and it was thanks to the attention of the State and the efforts of our families , and endorsed and encouraged by the Qatar Society for rehabilitation of People with Special Needs by providing everything that helps us to excellence including media educational means in order to bring us the principle of decent living , independence and self-reliance. At the end of the ceremony , HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani honored the outstanding students and their parents .(QNA)
