Process Of Issuing Halal Certificates Should Be Tightened, Crown Prince

PADANG BESAR (Malaysia), July 11 (Bernama) -- The Crown Prince of Malaysian state of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail said the process of issuing the Halal certificate needs to be tightened by imposing a high standard of quality. He said the aspects of ingredient content, slaughtering process, production, cleanliness of premises, environment and the chain of movement of the products were driving the industry to provide the best quality in meeting the halal requirement. "Our role in ensuring that the Malaysian Halal Certification remains to be respected is significant because many countries, including non-Muslim countries, are trying to lead the halal industry. "The country will lose if there is no effort to implement the requirement firmly because products with the Halal certification can penetrate the world market," said Syed Faizuddin when opening the Al-Mustaghfirin Mosque and handing out contributions to the needy in Bukit Chabang, here Thursday night. The Crown Prince wanted the halal issue to be given focus and the country's position as a halal hub be strengthened as the halal issue was becoming a popular topic in the Islamic world currently. Halal products could not meet the demand of the 1.8 billion Muslims throughout the world and this provided a good opportunity for Malaysian entrepreneurs to explore the international market, he said. -- BERNAMA
