Process for Producing High-alumina Brick Established

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The Prefab Factory for Coal Mines under the Tokchon Area Coal-Mining Complex in the DPRK established a process for producing high-alumina brick to lay a foundation for mass-producing firebricks with its own indigenous efforts and technology and locally available raw materials. In this regard, Ri Yong Dong, manager of the factory, told KCNA: The technicians' group at the factory succeeded in making high-alumina brick with aluminium-oxide mineral abundant in the western area of the country. The group determined the fire box structure, brick-charging height, amount of injected hot-air and other indices for operating kiln in a rational way and built kiln and established the production process in a short span of time. On this basis, the factory has produced hundreds tons of high-alumina bricks to send them to various units including the Kim Chaek and Hwanghae iron and steel complexes. The high-alumina brick is of great significance in lengthening the serviceable life of metallurgical furnace and improving the technological and economic indices of different heating furnaces for its superior fireproof property. -0-
