Progress of 3G on 2.1 GHz monitored by NBTC

BANGKOK, May 4 (TNA) - Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) is monitoring progress of 3G services on 2.1 GHz to be provided by mobile phone operators in the country. NBTC Vice Chairman Colonel Settapong Malisuwan told journalists that a meeting was held with the third generation or 3G wireless operators on the 2.1 gigahertz or GHz spectrum on Friday, during which the operators were asked on their plans to start their services, as well as on fees they will charge from customers. According to the NBTC vice chair, other major issues discussed at Friday's meeting included consumer protection plans and the corporate social responsibility (CSR) The three private mobile phone operators, which will operate the 3G wireless services in Thailand, include Advanced Info Service or AIS, DTAC and True Move plus TOT Public Co., Ltd. and CAT Telecom.(TNA)
