Prostitution ring nabbed

BANGKOK, June 2 (TNA) - Tourist police arrest a woman from Uganda for having allegedly forced her fellow countrywomen into illegal prostitution in Thailand. The arrest came after three Ugandan women managed to escape from the gang and seek help from a foundation. Tourist Police deputy chief Pol Maj-General Surachet Hakparn said Friday police had obtained arrest warrants for six Ugandans national for this human trafficking racket. Five of them were still at large and believed to be in Bangkok. The victims were lured out of their home country to apply for Thai visas in Kenya before being trafficked to Thailand, Pol Maj-General Surachet said. The arrested female suspect was keeping watch of the victims who were forced into prostitution for foreign tourists in Sukhumvit area, he said. Every two months, the victims would be taken to renew their visas in Malaysia. These traffickers deceived their victims by offering works in Bangkok restaurant but later forced them to be sex slaves, said the police officer. (TNA)
