Protesters keep pressuring on Thailand's Caretaker PM

BANGKOK, January 15 (TNA) - Anti-government protesters have continued their "Bangkok shutdown" for the three consecutive day on Wednesday to pressure for Caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her caretaker administration to resign and to push for a domestic political reform, as election officials have continued preparing the new general election on February 2, 2014 and candidates have carried on their vote campaigns, particularly in provincial areas. The protesters of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) kept marching on many roads in the capital to rally at many government offices to persuade government officials to stop working for the caretaker government. Meanwhile, a PDRC leader, Thaworn Senneam, held a press conference with Deputy Metropolitan Police Chief Police Major General Adul Narongsak to announce a joint safety mission for PDRC demonstrators between police and PDRC security guards. According to the deputy metropolitan police chief, more police will be deployed, together with PDRC guards, to check passing vehicles and people from 6pm to 1am to prevent untoward incidents at rally sites. Besides, traffic police will be deployed to facilitate traffic flows and regulate queues of passenger vans and motorcycle taxis at demonstration venues.(TNA)
