Pusako Anak Nagari Airport To Be Operational Next Year

Simpang Ampek, West Sumatra, July 18 (Antara) - Expansion of the Pusako Anak Nagari airport in the regency of Pasaman Barat, West Sumatra is expected to be completed next year. The recent visit to the project by a group of the transport ministry officials showed the seriousness of the government to build the airport, district administration secretary Yasri Uripsyah said here on Thursday. The people hopes the project could be completed as scheduled as it could help boost the district economic growth , Yasri said. He said the plan is the runway of the airport will be expanded from 800x10 to 800x21 meters, but it would depend on the budget provided by the central government. "The airport will be operated by a company to be established by the district administration," he said. M. Nasir Usman, a senior official of the transport ministry in charge of airports pledged support from the ministry for the expansion and modernization of the airport. Nasir said the government also wants the project to be completed next year4s. "Hopefully development could be accelerated with fund from the central government. Shortly, work would start to build drainage around the project," he said.
