Putin glad to see Mongolia’s president at May 9 celebrations in Moscow

MOSCOW, May 7. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin says he is glad to meet Mongolia’s President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj at the festivities marking the 70th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany. At a meeting with Mongolia’s president Putin said words of gratitude to Elbegdorj for his visit to Moscow. "It is quite natural as throughout World War II Mongolia supported the Soviet Union in its fight against Nazism," the Russian president said. Elbegdorj "congratulated Russia on the 70th anniversary of the victory on behalf of Mongolia and the Mongolians." "That great Victory was our common victory," he said recalling that in 2014 Putin attended the ceremonies commemorating the 75th anniversary of the victory on the Khalkhyn River, the site of fierce Soviet-Japanese border conflicts where the Soviet and Mongolian forces defeated the Japanese Army. ‘We are very glad that Mongolian troops will participate in the Victory Parade [in Moscow], Elbegdorj said.
