Putin offers condolences to Belgians, condemns barbaric blasts in Brussels - Kremlin

MOSCOW, March 22. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his condolences to King Philippe of Belgium and all the Belgian people over Tuesday’s terrorist attacks in Brussels. According to presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, Putin "has strongly condemned these barbaric crimes." "The fight against this evil requires most active international cooperation," Putin noted. "President Putin has already offered his condolences to King Philippe of Belgium over death of civilians in a series of explosions in Brussels. The president strongly condemned the barbaric crimes that have been committed," the Kremlin spokesman said. Peskov added that the Russian leader had also offered condolences to the Belgian people. He noted that Putin had confirmed Russians’ full solidarity with the Belgians in these difficult hours. This barbaric crime, which cannot be justified, confirms once again that terrorism has no borders and poses a threat to people across the globe. The Russian president voiced confidence that the murderers and their accomplices would get the punishment they deserve, offered his sympathy to relatives and friends of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured. At least two explosions rocked the international airport of Brussels earlier on Tuesday killing at least 17 people. Then another explosion occurred - in the Brussels subway - claiming the lives of at least 10 people. The city has declared the fourth, highest level of terrorist alert. Read more
