Qatar’s Public Prosecution Gets ISO Certification

Doha, September 20 (QNA) - The Public Prosecution has been awarded the ISO certification in financial and administrative affairs by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Departments of Financial and Administrative Affairs, Information Systems and Criminal Affairs got ISO 9001:2008 from TUV in recognition of its application of the highest international quality standards in the abovementioned areas. Officials of the ISO-obtaining departments told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that their departments' obtaining of this international certification was not a target in itself, but rather came as a natural result for their adoption of the maximum levels of distinction, quality and specifications in the work fields of those departments. They noted that the Public Prosecution is applying modern systems using electronic tools that spare paper work within the Public Prosecution departments, between employees or with the public. Assistant Undersecretary for Common Services Affairs at the Public Prosecution Abdul Razzaq Maarifi who is also representative of the supreme management for quality systems and distinction told QNA that obtaining the ISO certification came after the application by the said departments of a set of standards that meet the highest levels of quality and distinction including the delivery of the Public Prosecution's outputs, such as reports and files, timely and free of mistakes by not less than 100% as well as the implementation of employees' training by not less than 90%. The four departments were also able to implement a plan of preventive maintenance for all equipment by not less than 100% and to achieve the possibility to restore paper or electronic data in a time of no more than five minutes to reduce the public's complaints to less than 1 %. Sheikha Maarifi also stressed that the Public Prosecution departments managed to achieve record results in maintaining the satisfaction of the public by more than 99 percent. She revealed that the Public Prosecution is keen to achieve the "sustained excellence" project through the application of international standards and the creation and application of an effective system in accordance with the requirements of the International Standard for ISO certification which was obtained through the use of the latest technology in the field of information systems. Sheikha Maarifi pointed out that access to "sustained excellence" requires full compliance with international standards in all administrative procedures as well as knowing the wishes of the public in order to make sure that the Public Prosecution is able to meet their needs and expectations at the appropriate times. In order to achieve sustainable excellence the Public Prosecution is also working to keep pace with the modern systems for the development of services in order to achieve continuous improvement in quality, service excellence, performance and continuous improvement of the prosecution employees' skills to achieve the satisfaction of the recipients of the services for the benefit of the public prosecution, the employees and the community, she said. The Assistant Undersecretary for Common Services said the ISO certification granted by TUV is valid for period of three years was obtained after the TUV supervisors made sure that the public prosecution departments are meeting all international standards in their work. She praised the efforts made by the staff of the ISO-winning departments particularly the Planning and Quality Department staff who played a prominent role in achieving the requirements and international standards.(QNA)
