Qatar Calls for Coordination, Constructive Cooperation to Eliminate Terrorism

Geneva, March 14 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has underlined that the fight against terrorism is a real challenge to the international community, a matter which needs coordination and constructive cooperation of all international parties to eliminate terrorism in all its forms, and in line with the legitimate international standards and human rights. Qatar stressed that terrorism in all its forms, and its perpetrators are most threats to international peace and security, and pose a direct threat to the lives of innocent civilians, destabilizing and security of countries and hinder the economic and social progress. This came Qatar speech delivered by Mr. Jassim Al Mouawda, third secretary at the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office at the 25th session of the Human Rights Council, currently being held in Geneva from 3 to 28 March, during the general debate under item (3 ) of the agenda of the session. He added that terrorism has no religion no homeland, and it contravenes all religious teachings, which reject fanaticism and extremism, and call for tolerance, non-violence and moderation. Qatar condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, whatever its causes and justifications, and whatever its source, and from any party whatsoever, he stressed. He noted that Doha will host the Third United Nations Conference on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in 2015. Qatar, he said, has repeatedly stressed at the international forums the need for reaching a comprehensive treaty that contains a specific definition of terrorism, as loose definitions could lead to misuse of the term and exploit in a way that leads to serious violations of international law and international humanitarian law , and stands against the right of peoples to struggle against the occupation, and against the right to self-determination.
