Qatar Charity Distributes Food Aid for Those Affected by Coronavirus in Palestine

Gaza, September 22 (QNA) - With the support of charitable people in Qatar and in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development in Gaza, Qatar Charity has distributed food parcels to about 11,000 people affected by the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in Palestine, who were forced by health conditions to adhere to home quarantine. About 1675 poor and quarantined Palestinian families benefited from the food parcels in several governorates of Gaza Strip, Palestine. The food parcels included many basic foodstuffs that are sufficient for the family for a two-week home quarantine period. The Director of Qatar Charity office in Gaza, Engineer Mohamed Abu Haloub, confirmed that Qatar Charity was one of the first institutions that sought to support the poor in light of the spread of the pandemic, and is still working hard to provide more relief projects to help and improve the conditions of needy families. He added that the project contributes to improving the living conditions of poor and quarantined families within their homes as a result of the outbreak of the Coronavirus, indicating the importance of strengthening the resilience of these families in order to confront the pandemic. The aid provided by Qatar Charity to the victims of Coronavirus in Palestine was not limited to food aid, but included medical and preventive assistance, as it provided medicines, medical consumables and necessary preventive supplies to quarantine centers and hospitals in various governorates in Palestine. Hospitals and quarantine centers suffer from a severe shortage of these materials and tools, which puts the lives of citizens and medical and service personnel at risk of contracting the Coronavirus.
