Qatar Charity Opens Islamic Centre in Italy

Piacenza (Italy), May 25 (QNA) - Qatar Charity (QC) Board Chairman HE Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassim Al -Thani has inaugurated the Islamic Center premises in Piacenza city, northern Italy, in the presence of a number of QC officials, and Islamic figures, local officials and a number of members of the Muslim community. The Piacenza Islamic Centre serves the Muslim and local communities, and consists of buildings including a large mosque which accommodates more than 600 worshipers, and multi-purpose halls for seminars, lectures and various activities such as Ramadan Iftar. The Muslim community, the second in Piacenza city in terms of number as it reaches up to more than 28,000 Muslims descended from different nationalities. HE Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser Al Thani said in remarks on the occasion that the opening of this centre comes out of the Qatar Charity vision as a leading developmental and humanitarian organization in response to the growing demand for schools, cultural, and educational centres in Europe in particular and the world as general to contribute to strengthening the bonds of human brotherhood and support initiatives, programs and projects aimed at achieving sustainable development and peaceful coexistence among the various groups.(QNA)
