Qatar Charity, UNHCR Sign Agreement to Help Syrian Refugees in Lebanon

Doha, April 27 (QNA) - Qatar Charity (QC) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) have signed an agreement worth $ 1.5 million, to provide emergency cash assistance to Syrian refugees across Lebanon, in response to the humanitarian needs caused by the spread of the pandemic of the coronavirus (Covic-19). The signing of the agreement came within the framework of an integrated plan to mitigate the effects of precautionary and preventive measures to curb the spread of the Corona pandemic , at the level of 27 countries, where Qatar Charity had revealed at the beginning of last March an urgent plan through its 25 field offices to help support the efforts of local health authorities, with the aim of implementing preventive measures and raising awareness to reduce the spread of the pandemic. Yousef Al-Kuwari, CEO of Qatar Charity (QC) stated that the coronavirus is a crisis within a crisis, and it will also affect the lives of the forcibly displaced, pointing out that "joint cooperation with UNHCR allows us to provide support in various forms of programs focused on improving the living conditions of refugees during this difficult time ". The agreements between Qatar Charity and the United Nations agencies come within the framework of strategic cooperation with the aim of serving humanitarian and development issues in disaster and crisis areas. During the past year, Qatar Charity (QC) signed 11 cooperation agreements with international organizations and United Nations agencies to finance international projects, including 6 cooperation agreements with the United Nations High Commissioner (UNHCR).
