Qatar Condemns Constant Israeli Military Attacks Against the Palestinian People

Geneva, March 24 (QNA) -The State of Qatar has condemned the non-cooperation of Israel as an occupying authority with the UN special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories , Richard Falk.   Qatar meantime vehemently condemned the continuing Israeli military attacks against the Palestinian people , the continuation of the illegal settlement activities , and the ongoing attacks on Al Quds (Jerusalem ) and the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque , warning at the same time that such practices would threaten efforts ,seeking to push forward the peace process ,to fail.   This came in a speech HE Faisal bin Abdullah Al Hanzab , the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva delivered before the 25th session of the Human Rights Council , now in progress in Geneva amid the interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories since 1967 , as part of the seventh item of the agenda , entitled "Human rights situation in Palestine and the occupied Arab territories ."   HE the Qatari Permanent Representative also said, " We agree with what is stated in the report that after ten years on the issue of the legal opinion of the ICJ , which recognizes that the construction of the separation barrier is illegal and should be removed , and the claim of the United Nations , and especially the UN General Assembly and the Security Council , to consider what actions that should be taken to end such an illegal position". Elaborating Faisal bin Abdullah Al Hanzab further said," Hence the international community should bring pressure by all means on Israel to stop its defiance of international legitimacy , and forcing it to cease all violations and practices of apartheid and colonial policies it has been committing against the Palestinian people. "     The Qatari senior diplomat praised the reference which the report of the Special Rapporteur has mentioned about the positive role played by the State of Qatar and Turkey to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and providing relief services in emergency situations.   On this occasion , HE Al Hanzab condemned the unjust and illegal siege imposed on the Gaza strip calling on the international community to bear its responsibilities and end such a siege , and to ensure the accountability of those responsible for the violations and crimes committed against the Palestinian people . In this regard, HE Al Hanzab said in his speech that the State of Qatar will not abandon the Palestinian cause , and will continue to provide the required and necessary support until the Palestinian people regain their legitimate rights , and access to a just and lasting solution based on two states , according to the terms of the peace process , especially the Arab Peace Initiative .(QNA)
