Qatar Discusses preparations for World Tourism Day with UNWTO

Dubai, April 28 (QNA) - Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) held Thursday a meeting with the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) to discuss Qatar's preparations to host World Tourism Day 2017. The meeting took place in Dubai on the sidelines of the Arabian Travel Market 2016. QTA's Director of International Cooperation Saif Al Kuwari said the two sides discussed the events that Qatar will hold to celebrate the day next year. Qatar was chosen last September as the official host of World Tourism Day in 2017. The day will be held under the theme "Sustainable Tourism, a Tool for Development." The two sides also discussed the implementation of some of the articles in a cooperation agreement they signed in February 2014. The first and second phase of the agreement has already been implemented. Al Kuwari said that the first phase involved UNTWO help develop the regulation of the tourism and exhibitions law. The second phase was regarding activating the tourism strategy and encouraging investment in the sector. UNWTO have, in cooperation with a number of international universities, offer training workshops to workers in the tourism sector. (QNA)
