Qatar Equestrian Club Donation Boosts Educate A Child Programme

Doha, August 02 (QNA) - Educate A Child (EAC), a global programme of Education Above All Foundation (EAA), has received a donation of GBP 40,000 from the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, the Foundation said Sunday. In a media statement EAA said, "The donation comes from the proceeds of one of the races held during the five-day Qatar Goodwood Festival in the UK to support EAC's projects providing access to primary education around the world." 'Educate A Child Stakes' is the name of the race dedicated to EAC. Commenting on the donation, EAA CEO Marcio Barbosa, "EAA's Educate A Child programme has a target of reaching 10 million out-of-school children by the end of the next school year. "We have already reached over five million children. What we need to reach our goal are funds from individual donors and organisations such as the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, to which EAA is very grateful for its generous donation today." EAA has received donations this year from various government development, sport and corporate organisations, including the Men's Handball World Championship, the Korean International Cooperation Agency, the French Development Agency, the Qatar Equestrian and Racing Club, Qatar Insurance Company, the W Doha Hotel and Residences, and Ali Bin Naser Al Misnad Transport & Trading among others. Later this year, the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) will come to an end, including MDG2, achieving universal primary education. Despite the goal, there remain 58 million out of school children worldwide, the Foundation said. (QNA)
