Qatar First National Identity Seminar Kicks Off

Doha, October 20 (QNA) -Under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the first Seminar on identity in light of Qatar National Vision 2030 opened here today at Al Sharge village Hotel A number of noted speakers in Qatar and abroad are taking part in Seminar to discuss major topics pertaining to the significance of conserving a countrys national identity at the Qatars first "National Identity Seminar" Addressing the opening session of Forum, Dr. Saleh bin Mohammed Al Nabit, Minister of development planning and statistics said that "the Qatar National Vision 2030, from which the national development strategy 2011-2016 grew out is based on five main pillars, including modernization, development and construction of the modern State in an exceptional that achieves the sustainable development for current and future generations, and preserves Qatar national heritage and strengthens Arab and Islamic values and identity." HE the Minister added, saying: "Our national identity is reflected in all tracks contained in the national development strategy, particularly in the programmes, projects and objectives of the strategy for social development including cultural development, where national development strategy had adopted six strategic results which were achieved through programmes and projects aimed at using culture as a platform for building national pride and promote understanding between cultures as well as the protection of the cultural heritage of the State of Qatar. It aims to develop and maintain the national identity, strengthen family cohesion as well as using the culture to improve learning among young people, and building their self-confidence, help them to achieve their potential, and attract talent and nurture high-quality, stimulating the growth of the cultural sector and encourage interest in culture by providing research and information potential of the cultural sector and its growth, in addition to the benefits of participation and promote image The State of Qatar and its status as a cultural hub for cultural exchange, which is to be achieved through pride of identity ", he added. HE the Minister said : " the first three years of the national development strategy had laid the first building blocks on the track, and we are confident that all development partners will work tirelessly and together, where we would work to achieve further success on all paths of sustainable development." The two-day seminar, one of a host of activities organized by the Qatar Heritage and Identity Center, will tackle subjects such as the place of Qatari identity in Qatar National Vision 2030; family and identity; home employments effect on identity; the role of population dynamics; and reinforcing the importance of loyalty and patriotism. It will also showcase successful case studies of the preservation of national identity from Japan and Oman. QNA)
