Qatar Highlights Significance of Women Role in Promoting Human Rights

Geneva, September 15 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has underscored the significant role that can be played by women in the promotion and protection of human rights at the national and international levels. It stressed its commitment to enhancing the role and position of Qatari women in all fields, with effective participation of internationally through its candidacy for membership of a number of international mechanisms, including the United Nations mechanisms for the promotion and protection of human rights. This came in a speech of delegation of the State of Qatar Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, which was delivered today during a session of annual debate about "integrating the human rights of women throughout the United Nations system" within the 27th session of the Human Rights Council being held between 8 to 26 September, 2014 . It also underlined the need to pay more attention to building and upgrading women capabilities, and providing them equal opportunities with men on order to take over the positions and committees membership so as to ensure their effective participation and take full advantage of their capabilities in supporting the work of the Human rights Council.(QNA)
