Qatar Keen on Promoting Peace, HE Deputy Speaker Says

Hanoi, March 31 (QNA) - HE Deputy Speaker of the Advisory Council Issa bin Rabia al-Kuwari said Monday that the State of Qatar was working hard on establishing peace and stability regionally and internationally. Speaking at the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union, His Excellency said that the State of Qatar has taken big steps in terms of democracy and building institutions that respect the rule of law, praising HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for the role played in that regard. Al-Kuwari stressed in his speech that the Palestinian issue remains the top priority of the Arab and Islamic world. His Excellency noted that the Palestinian people have been subjected to horrific Israeli violations, in addition to the political and economic siege enforced on Gaza strip. He stressed that peace can never be maintained in the region unless the Palestinian people earn their right in establishing an independent state with Al Quds as its capital. HE the Deputy Speaker of the Advisory Council then resumed to discuss matters relating to Qatar. He said that the country placed human rights at a very high priority. He highlighted Qatar's decree law no. 17 for 2010 regulating the National Human Rights Council. In concluding his remarks, the Deputy Speaker of the Advisory Council thanked the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for hosting the union. (QNA)
