Qatar Partakes in Celebrating Anniversary of Adoption of UN Convention Against Corruption

New York, May 26 (QNA) - The State of Qatar, represented in the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority, in cooperation with Permanent Mission of Qatar to New York, has participated in a high-level meeting to mark the fifteenth anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption. The meeting, held recently in in New York, was organized jointly by the United Nations General Assembly and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) , with the participation of States parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption and a number of concerned international organizations. The meeting was opened by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, President of the United Nations General Assembly Miroslav Lajcak, and Executive Director of UNODC Yuri Fedotov. The high-level meeting included a plenary meeting, two separate expert discussion meetings and a closing session. A number of States parties to the Convention have demonstrated their successes in the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption and the challenges they face in this area. During the meeting, the delegation of Qatar referred to Qatar's achievements in the prevention and control of corruption, which made it rank high on the related international indicators, pointing to Qatar's continuous and outstanding support for the regional and international efforts to combat corruption as well as its determination to move forward in this field, in the belief of the importance of preventing and combating corruption, which would achieve the sustainable development of the peoples of the world.
