Qatar Partakes in Global Forum on Migration Development in Bangladesh

Dhaka, December 11 (QNA) - The State of Qatar is participating in the Global Forum on Migration and Development currently underway in Bangladesh capital Dhaka during the period 10-12 December. HE the Minister of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs Dr Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi heads the Qatari delegation, which consists of representatives from the ministries of foreign affairs, interior, and development planning and statistics. The forum is discussing the cooperation for safe and legal migration in addition to supporting procedures of fair overseas employment and insuring decent work environment. In his speech at the forum opening, HE Dr Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi said that the State of Qatar will continue joining efforts with the international community to face the common challenges and realize the goals of sustainable development, taking into account the specificity of each country. He stressed Qatar's effective participation in the international debate about introducing new ideas and solutions to address the challenges of migration governance. HE the Minister of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs also met with Bangladesh Minister of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Islam. During the meeting, they agreed on developing a mechanism for cooperation between recruitment agencies in the two countries to reduce the cost and ensure hiring trained and certified domestic workers. A number of ministers and officials participating in the forum visited Qatar's pavilion in the exhibition which was organized on the sideline of the forum. The pavilion's guests praised Qatar's efforts and measure for the protection of the expatriate workers, especially in the areas of health and vocational safety. (QNA)
