Qatar Participates in 10th Session of Intergovernmental Committee for Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage

Windhoek, November 30 (QNA) - The State of Qatar is taking part in the 10th session of the UNSCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which kicked off Monday in the Namibian capital, Windhoek. The State of Qatar is seeking during this session to inscribe two files in the Representative List of Cultural Intangible Heritage of Humanity at UNESCO, namely "Qatari Council" and "Coffee". Masoud Al Sulaiti, a heritage consultant at the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage, that the Ministry is making every effort to inscribe the files submitted by the State of Qatar in order preserve two of Qatar's most important cultural heritage aspects which are the Qatari Council for its prominent role in the Qatari culture, and Coffee, which represents Qatar's generosity and hospitality in various events. The 10th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage will discuss periodic reports on the implementation of the 2003 Convention, one periodic report of a State non party and 3 reports on an element inscribed on the Urgent Safeguarding List. The committee will also consider 8 nominations to the Urgent Safeguarding List, and 35 nominations to the Representative List, as well as 2 financial assistance request, 54 new accreditation requests submitted by NGOs and 69 contribution reports.
