Qatar Participates in the Global Symposium for Regulators

Geneva, July 11 (QNA) - The State of Qatar took part in the 18th edition of the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) which was held Geneva with the participation of more than 600 specialists in the field alongside 100 speakers from around the world. The State of Qatar is represented in the symposium with a delegation from Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) led by its President Mohammed Ali Al Mannai. The four-day symposium, held under the theme "New Regulatory Frontiers", included interactive panel discussions and presentations on challenges and organizational opportunities for various topics, such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things and cybersecurity. The symposium also included high-level discussion sessions on important issues related to digital transformation, digital identity and personal data protection, as well as meetings of regional regulatory associations and senior officials in this sector. The Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) is organized annually by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and brings together members of the ITU Telecommunication Development Sector, managements of its member states, national regulatory bodies, regional and international organizations, academia and research institutes affiliated to the ITU. Speaking on the occasion, President of the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) Mohammed Ali Al Mannai said that the CRA is keen on keeping abreast of developments in the rapidly evolving ICT sector worldwide, by participating in such events which represent an opportunity to communicate directly with other regulators, policy and decision makers, experts in the field and stakeholders from around the world, in order to exchange ideas and expertise that will contribute to the development of the ICT sector in the State of Qatar. The CRA President held several meetings on the sidelines of the symposium, included meetings with ITU Secretary-General Houlin Zhao, Director of the ITU Radiocommunication Bureau Francois Rancy and Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau Brahima Sanou.
