Qatar Post to Launch First Postage Stamp With Picture of HH the Emir

Doha, December 16 (QNA) - The General Postal Corporation ( QPost) today launched the first postage stamp with a picture of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on the occasion of National Day, which falls on December 18 of each year. The new postage stamp will be traded from tomorrow, Tuesday, in all branches of post offices in the state. The new stamp comes in nine categories including QR 30, QR 20, QR 10, QR 5, QR 4 , and QR 3, QR 2, one Qatari Riyal, and half Qatari Riyal. The nine categories of postage stamp are colourful to reflect Qatar environment. 100 000 copies for each category of the postage stamp will be issued on the first day. Acting Chairman of the General Postal Corporation Abdulrahman Al Aqeeli,said that the first postage stamp which carries the picture of HH the Emir comes on a dear occasion to all Qataris which is the National Day of the State, so the issuance of a new postage stamp is of a symbolic significance, especially since the theme of the National Day this year is "Our Hearts Are The Source of Our Glory. Al Aqeel said in a statement to reporters that the new version the postage stamp is part of a series bearing pictures of the rulers of the State of Qatar.(QNA)
