Qatar Radio Celebrates World Radio Day

Doha, February 14 (QNA) - Qatar Radio celebrated the tenth edition of World Radio Day, which falls on Feb. 13 annually, under the theme "New World, New Radio". Qatar Radio participated alongside other countries on Saturday in events that were engaged in at the international level, in coordination with Qatar National Committee for Education, Culture and Science, UNESCO and the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) affiliated with the League of Arab States. Qatar Radio prepared a special program on radio and social recovery at the Arab States Broadcasting Union level, as it was broadcast through the electronic union system to be accessible to all countries. The program shed light on the effective social dialogue and cooperation between radio and the listener and how it can be a cause of social recovery through modern and appropriate ideas that are compatible with the renewal of the world. The program was presented by Badriya Hassan and directed and prepared by journalist Ahmed Adnan. A program a "New World, New Radio" was also produced at the Arab States Broadcasting Union and UNESCO levels, in Qatar National Committee for Education, Culture and Science, which was broadcast on Qatar Radio. The program dealt with the topic of the renewal of radio to keep pace with the developments of the new world, to remind how closely this medium is related to human history, and to keep pace with the various developments that have occurred in our societies. Qatar Radio also participated, through journalist Ahmed Adnan, in preparing the program about the Gulf with all Arab countries, in coordination with Iraq Radio, which held a celebration on this occasion on Saturday, where a huge international work was produced in which the achievements of each country in the field of broadcasting were reviewed and interviews were made with prominent media professionals who addressed the development of the course of radio throughout its life. Qatar Radios social media department, under the supervision of the head of the department, Iman Al Kaabi, produced an informative documentary video that reviewed the Radio's path in the past and present, and recorded interviews with prominent media figures such as Qatari journalist Hassan Rashid, the first broadcaster on the air, announcing the first launch of the radio in 1968. Qatar Radio news department, under the supervision of news monitor Majid Jabara, also participated by launching four documentary reports inside news bulletins supported by radio documents, and interviewing prominent media professionals such as Mubarak Jaham Al Kuwari, Abdul Salam Jadallah and Hassan Rashid. In a related context, UNESCO said that the radio contributed, during the pandemic, to the dissemination of reliable information about the coronavirus, awareness of the necessary precautionary measures to curb its spread, and the broadcast of lessons and educational courses in many countries to ensure the continuation of education.
