Qatar Red Crescent to Establish Field Hospital in Nepal

Doha, April 26 (QNA) - Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) allocated QR1 million for urgent aid needed to the survivors of the earthquake that hit Nepal yesterday, the organization said Sunday. QRC will establish a field hospital in Nepal to provide medical care to emergencies. The hospital will have tents and medical equipment with between five to eight practitioners operating it, in addition to volunteers. The hospital has between 30 and 40 beds. It has medical equipment enough to last 30 days and treats around 30,000 patients. Yesterday, Qatar Red Crescent has issued an emergency appeal to raise 12 million QAR for the relief of Nepal earthquake victims. Nepal’s National Society for Earthquake Technology had previously estimated that a large-scale earthquake in mid-Nepal could displace over 1.8 million people and injure a further 300,000. (QNA)
