Qatar Signs Agreements with France and Azerbaijan at Milipol

Doha, October 20 (QNA) - Qatar signed four agreements, two each with France and Azerbaijan, to co-operate on internal security initiatives on the side-lines of the 10th edition of Milipol Qatar 2014 which opened here Monday at the Doha Exhibition Centre, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said today. HE the Prime Minster and Minster of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, who inaugurated the exhibition earlier today, and French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve witnessed the signing of the four agreements. The first agreement was signed by Director General of Public Security (DGPS), Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim al Khulaifi and Director General of French National Police signed the first agreement which is a letter of intent concerning training, co-operation, mutual understanding and the exchange of information between Qatar and France. The Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) and the French Gendarmerie signed an agreement for co-operation. Director of the Office of the Internal Security Forces (Lekhwiya) Brigadier Fahd Rashid Al Ali and for France by the Director General of the French Gendarmerie. The DGPS Staff Major General Al Khulaifi and the Interior Minister of Azerbaijan signed another agreement on co-operation in security. The fourth agreement was signed for Lekhwiya by the Director of the Office of the Internal Security Forces (Lekhwiya) Brigadier Fahd Rashid Al Ali and Azerbaijan Minister for Emergency Situations Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov. Earlier, under the auspices of HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani opened the 10th edition of the three-day Milipol Qatar Exhibition 2014. The Sultanate of Oman Minister of Interior Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, France Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, and Azerbaijan Minister for Emergency Situations Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov attended the opening ceremony today, the MoI said. HE the Minister of Transport Jassem Bin Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, Director General of Public Security Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi, Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General (Pilot) Ghanim bin Shaheen Al-Ghanim, and senior security officials from neighbouring countries also attended the opening ceremony. HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior speaking to journalists today said Milipol Qatar is organised with the co-operation of Qatar's Ministry of Interior and France and the exhibition's growth in capacity and the number of exhibitors participating this year reaffirms the success of the previous editions of Milipol Qatar. He lauded global companies for showcasing their latest technology in internal security at the expo. French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said the Milipol Qatar exhibition is different as it is held alternatively in Doha and Paris. He praised the role of French companies exhibiting new developments in internal security. HE the Minister of Transport Jassem bin Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti said this exhibition was more remarkable than the previous edition in all aspects. The DGPS Saad bin Jassim al Khulaifi said this expo stood out for the 261 participating exhibitors and the large exhibition area at the Doha Exhibition Center of 6,055 square meters, an increase of 12% over previous editions. HE the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General (Pilot) Ghanim bin Shaheen Al-Ghanim said that the exhibition had become a hallmark in the field of the latest security technology in the Middle East and the world.
