Qatar Strongly Condemns Human Rights Violation in Syria

Geneva, June 23 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has condemned in the strongest possible terms the dire human rights violations in Syria in light of the insistence of the Assad regime against the legitimate demands of the Syrian peoples for freedom, justice and democracy, and by committing more killings, genocide and mass siege, displacement and destruction using heavy weapons, explosive barrels and toxic gases such as / chlorine gas / as well as committing war crimes and crimes against humanity, only to survive on power after losing its legitimacy in full. It said more than two-thirds of the Syrian territories were now outside the regime's control, a matter which contributed to the growing of extremist ideology and terrorist groups. This came in a speech delivered here today by Jassim Al-Maawda , Second Secretary of Qatar Permanent Mission in Geneva, at the 29th session of the Human Rights Council, item (4), under the title of "interactive dialogue with the International Independent Investigation Commission on the Syrian Arab Republic." Al Maawda denounced the Syrian authorities continued rejection of allowing the International Commission of Inquiry to enter the Syrian territories to implement the mandate entrusted to them. He stressed the importance of accountability for all those responsible for human rights violations, war crimes and crimes against humanity in Syria and bring to international criminal justice. (QNA)
