Qatar Takes Part in 5th Edition of Kuwait International Prize for Holy Quran

Doha, April 01 (QNA) - Qatar is to take part in the 5th edition of Kuwait International Prize for Holy Quran memorization and recitation ,now held in Kuwait under the patronage of the Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah. Contestant Abdulaziz Saeed Halwan represents Qatar to the competition in full recitation of Quran categrory along with 107 other contestants representing 57 world countries. Qatar had earlier participated in the 4th edition of the competition where its contestant yusuf asheer came in the second position among other 83 contestants representing 50 world islamic countries. Kuwait's fifth International Prize for Quran kicked off here earlier Monday . The opening ceremony of the competition organized by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs was held at the International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO) theater. The opening speech was given by Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Nayif Al-Ajmi, and Undersecretary of the ministry and Chairman of the Prize's supreme committee Dr. Adel Al-Falah. The ceremony also included the playing of a documentary movie showcasing the Prize's previous competitions and achievements of participants, followed by honoring His Highness the Prime Minister, who also inaugurated the Prize's exhibition, containing publications by private and public sectors about Holy Quran sciences.(QNA)
