Qatar University Celebrates Graduation of 37th Batch

Doha, May 20 (QNA) - Qatar University (QU) on Tuesday celebrated the graduation of its 37th batch of male students at Qatar National Convention Center, with a similar ceremony scheduled for female students tomorrow, Wednesday, under the patronage of Supreme Education Council Vice President HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani. The batch comprises 1,263 students, of which 1,119 receiving bachelor degrees, 136 receiving diplomas and Master's degrees, while further eight graduate with a pharmacist doctor degree. Of the total number of graduating students, 889 are females and 230 are males. Speaking at the ceremony, QU President Dr. Sheikha Al Misnad said the university has, over 40 years, expanded its initiatives, developed its performance and grew its premises but "never deviated from its national vision and educational mission of preparing a generation of young men and women armed with useful science, noble values ??and entrenched determination" to tackle competition in work and graduate studies in local and international fields alike. She added that the growth and development of the university part of a strategic plan covering the academic, administrative and student sectors of the university, noting that the plan was based on the Qatar National Vision 2030, which made human development in general and education in particular a cornerstone in building Qatar's present and future. Dr. Al Misnad added that QU was keen to keep pace with QNV 2030's call for promoting innovation and creativity through a scientific research strategy in areas that address the developmental needs of the country such as environment, information technology, health and identity, noting that the development of research required the introduction of infrastructure to manage and take care of researchers' affairs.
