Qatar University to Host Conference on Academic Advising

Doha, October 27 (QNA) - Qatar University (QU) will co-organize the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) 2014 Middle East Conference here from November 19 to 20, the university said Monday. The event is being held in the Middle East for the first time. In partnership with the conference's parent organization NACADA, QU is engaging dialogue on building a culture of student retention and success in higher education institutions in the Middle East, QU said. Faculty, academic advisors, academic and student affairs professionals, and educators have opportunity to share best practices, research in student development and success at the event. QU President Professor Sheikha Abdullah Al-Misnad and NACADA Executive Director Dr Charlie Nutt are the keynote speakers. Presenters and participants from Kuwait, Iran and the Middle East will join national education advisers, policymakers, and representatives from QU, Community College Qatar, College of the North Atlantic Qatar, Stenden University, and branch universities at the Education City. The conference's programme comprises more than 40 sessions in the form of workshops, discussion panels, poster sessions and paper presentations, the university said. (QNA)
